Cape Town - A police raid at a house belonging to two Egyptian nationals in Pelikan Park led to the discovery of R30 000 worth of crystal meth, mandrax tablets, heroine and an undisclosed amount of cash hidden underneath a bath and in a food supplement tin.
The foreign nationals were not home when the raid was carried out by the Flying Squad at Crane Crescent on Sunday morning.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman at the scene. During the search, which followed a tip-off, police found 34 packets of crystal meth, 52 packets of mandrax tablets, 15 units of heroin, and cash.
Inside the house, police found four adults but only arrested the two and combed the premises when they found the mandrax hidden inside an Ensure Gold supplement tin, and the undisclosed amount of cash and crystal meth under a bath standing in the backyard. It has yet to be confirmed whether more arrests are expected. Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg said: “Members of the Maitland Flying Squad searched a premises in Crane Crescent, Pelikan Park on March 2,where they arrested a 29-year-old male and a 20-year-old female for the pos-session of drugs.
“They confiscated 34 packets containing crystal meth, 52 mandrax tablets, 15 units of heroin and an undisclosed amount of cash. ”The suspects are expected to make an appearance at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
