Police need public’s help finding Lwandle’s most wanted

Cape Town - Lwandle Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to find a number of wanted suspects.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects below can contact Detective Sergeant Vernando Mitchelle on 082 522 1953 or 021 845 2060. Alternatively, anonymously contact Crime Stop at 086 0010 111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.

*Khanyisani Shushu is wanted in connection with murder case that on November 30, 2018 in Overwacht Road, Lwandle. It is alleged that Shushu stabbed a 27-year-old man from Nomzamo who died on the scene. Shushu was arrested, appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail. A warrant of arrest has since been issued after he failed to appear in court.

*Siyathemba Gonongo is wanted in connection with a murder case on the April 27, 2018 in Paliso Street, Asanda Village. It is alleged that a man was stabbed multiple times by the suspect and then taken to a nearby hospital where he died on arrival. Gonongo was arrested and appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court. After being released on bail, he disappeared.

  • Abongile Makaleni and his colleague reported an armed robbery case where they alleged that they were pointed at with a firearm by two men while delivering bread in Lwandle. According to Makaleni, they were robbed of money. Police interrogated the driver and passenger separately and their stories did not match up. Police found out that the incident was staged. Both suspects were arrested and charged for perjury. They both appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s court and were released on bail. Makaleni failed to appear in court again.
  • Mandlenkosi Hulani is wanted in connection with murder on February 8, 2021 in Nombula Street, Asanda Village. It is alleged that Hulani stabbed a person to death following an argument. Hulani was arrested and appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court. He was then released on bail with a new date of appearance. He failed to appear again.

  • Yonela Maliti is wanted for murder on the August 2, 2019 at a house situated in Juqu Street, Asanda Village. It is alleged that the deceased and Maliti had an argument at their place of residence which resulted in her stabbing her boyfriend to death. She was arrested, appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court and did not return to court.

  • Sipho Bidli is wanted in connection with a theft of motor vehicle case incident on the October 17, 2020. It is alleged that the owner of the vehicle parked his car outside his colleague’s home in Vukayi Street, Lwandle and within a few minutes of being inside the house, heard his vehicle moving. He immediately alerted police who saw the car a few kilometres away from where it was stolen. Police arrested Bidli, who appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court. He has failed to appear in court since.

  • Yonela Mbasa is wanted in connection with murder in an incident on December 2, 2020 at in Shumani Street, Asanda Village. It is alleged that the deceased had an argument with the suspect, who stabbed him in the chest. The victim died on the scene. Mbasa was arrested and appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court. After being granted bail, Mbasa failed to appear in court.

  • Stanley Mutsvange is wanted in connection with a rape case on April 9, 2020 in Ndzuzo street, Nomzamo. It is alleged the complainant was on her way home from a shop when she met the suspect, who grabbed and raped her. The suspect was arrested and appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail. Mutsvange failed to appear in court again.

  • Tellmore Gweya is wanted for rape incidents between December 2016 and April 2017 at Xaki Street, Asanda Village. It is alleged that the suspect raped a 10-year-old child where there were no adults at home. Gweya was arrested, appeared in the Strand Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail. A warrant of arrest was issued for his arrest after Gweya failed to appear in court.

  • Christopher Nyajeni is wanted for alleged fraud between 2013 and 2014. It is alleged that a complainant lost his identity book and when he went to renew his motor vehicle licence disk in June 2016, he was informed of five warrants of arrest issued on his name. The complainant found out that he had four motor vehicles registered in his name. A fraud case was opened and Nyajeni was arrested. He failed to appear in court again after being given bail.
