Durban — A suspected drug dealer is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 28, 2022, on a drug dealing charge, after he was arrested with drugs worth half a million.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said that on Friday, Hawks officers from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 34-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs at Phoenix.

Mhlongo said that officers received information about drug dealing activities at Tashmeera Gardens in Phoenix.

He said that an operation was planned and executed in the said flats.

“Upon searching the premises, mandrax tablets and heroin capsules to the street value of approximately R506 900 were found. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with dealing drugs,” Mhlongo said.

He said the suspect is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 28, 2022, on a drug dealing charge.
