Durban — In May, detectives from the Provincial Project Team made a public plea asking for assistance in finding Raksha Rajkuma Pooran, the wanted suspect in a R3.5 million case of fraud or theft by general deficiency that they were investigating.

Nearly seven months on, the 36-year-old woman has still not been found.

According to police, it was alleged by the complainant that between 2017 and 2019, he was defrauded of money from his business and personal account by a known suspect.

“The suspect fled the scene after the incident. The victim was defrauded of the amount of R3.5 million. A case of fraud was opened for investigation at Westville SAPS. The suspect was traced and she was not found. A warrant of arrest has been issued by the court,” police had said in May.

Back then, spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said: “We appeal to anyone who might have information regarding the wanted suspect attached in the picture to contact the investigating officer, detective Lieutenant-Colonel Ngcobo on 082 334 8123 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”

On Wednesday, police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the woman had not yet been arrested.

“The wanted suspect in the picture is still being sought,” she said.

Ngcobo elaborated and said that on March 29, 2019, a case of theft was reported at Westville SAPS.

“It is alleged by the complainant that a known suspect started stealing his money on June 25, 2017.”
