AmaZulu co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi have started with their cleaning campaign at the club during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The duo has released striker Junior Dion and defender Yanga Mjoli on six-month loan deals to fellow top-flight side Marumo Gallants.

“Yanga Mjoli, a versatile defender, showcased his skills in the first half of the season while on loan at Pretoria Callies, gaining invaluable experience in the Motsepe Foundation Championship,” the club added in a statement.

“Meanwhile, Sede Junior Dion has been a consistent presence for Usuthu, making seven starts this season.

“This strategic move aims to provide both players with increased game time, and further opportunities for development.”

While Mjoli, 21, will be pleased with the opportunity to play top-flight football, Dion, 31, will probably look at his loan deal back to his former club as a setback.

The Ivorian had a decent campaign with Usuthu last season, scoring nine goals and registering one assist in 26 games across all competitions under then coach Pablo Franco Martin.

The Spain born coach has since left the club, though, and has been replaced by Zwane and Vilakazi who want to stamp their own authority.

The duo has done well in that regard, moving the team away from the foot of the table to the bottom half (12th) after managing four wins in eight games in the Betway Premiership.

Usuthu’s next clash will be at home to Sekhukhune United on Wednesday night, and Zwane and Vilakazi will hope that they can score goals without Dion.
