Former "Big Brother Mzansi" housemate Bonni Bee has finally publicly apologised for her insensitive comments about fellow housemate Kay B, who revealed in the house that she was a sexual assault survivor.
In a recent video shared on X, Bonnie Bee acknowledged that her comments to Kay B were “vile,” “rude,” and “not necessary.”
“I know what I said was quite vile. It was rude and it was not necessary,” she said.
The 28-year-old tele-sales agent apologised to Kay B, the "Big Brother Mzansi" team and the show's sponsors.
“I'd really like to apologise to everybody that was involved in my commentary as well as my opinion,” she stated.
Bonni Bee, real name Bongiwe Booi, also extended her apology to anyone who has been affected by sexual violence, GBV or similar traumatic experiences.
“I'd also like to extend my apology to anybody whose sibling, relative, friend, or themselves who had gone through sexual violation, GBV or anything horrific like that,” she said.
The former housemate revealed that she has been on a journey of self-discovery and introspection, seeking help and attending sessions to better understand the impact of her words.
She announced that she will be sharing her journey through a virtual diary called “2025, I am a working progress” where she will document her growth and efforts to become a better person.
She added that she has taken steps to clear her name and to better herself.
Hello Everyone 👋, I just want to take this Opportunity to Apologise to @kayb_mphirimee , @bigbromzansi ,My Fans BON FIRE 🔥 and to the Everyone who felt disappointed in me
Am Trying my Best to be a better person but before that I need to apologise to everyone first and I hope pic.twitter.com/BNsC5U4fFX
This apology comes after she and Ashley Ogle, another former housemate, made insensitive remarks when Kay B bravely shared her story of sexual assault with the rest of the housemates during the first week of the competition, invalidating her experience as a survivor.
The two housemates faced weeks of criticism from viewers who felt that their comments were unacceptable and warranted a disqualification from the competition.
However, not everyone is convinced of Bonni Bee’s sincerity.
Some "Big Brother Mzansi" viewers feel that her apology is not genuine, highlighting her previous refusal to apologize after leaving the house.
She also had appeared on a podcast where she stood by her comments and still showed no remorse. Viewers took to X to express their skepticism.
