Fans of Uyanda Hlangabezo, the "Big Brother Mzansi" season 5 runner-up, have embarked on a mission to raise R2 million for their favourite contestant.

On Sunday, March 23, he came out second best to this season's winner Sweet Guluva, who also walked away with the R2 million grand prize.

And although Hlangabezo narrowly missed the top spot, his fans are determined to show their support for him and his remarkable fighting spirit.

As a housemate, he always stood out and captivated the audience with his relentless determination, and courage, while also keeping them entertained.

When asked about how he feels about the gesture, Hlangabezo shared that he is surprised by how many people love him.

“It's shocking that there are so many people who love me.

“I used to think that I was this boring person, so finding out that there are so many people who were entertained by me makes me proud, and I'm super grateful,” he said.

The fundraising initiative, spearheaded by Mandisi Tshingana, aims to reward him for his incredible performance and sportsmanship throughout the season.

In an hour, he managed to collect over R150 000 from fans. The goal is to match the R2 million prize won by Guluva.

Tshingana also previously spearheaded the fundraiser for actress Brenda Ngxoli during her family drama with her mother.

In January, she took to social media to share an emotional video of her and her mother arguing.

Ngxoli has also subsequently thanked Tshingana and those who made donations.

This fundraising gesture for Hlangabezo showcases the power of fandom and the impact that reality TV contestants can have on their audiences. It also shows the lasting impression he made on the show.

Hlangabezo's fans have been rooting for him since the beginning of the season and are inspired by his strength and passion.

As the fundraising campaign gains momentum, fans are taking to social media to share their support for him.
