This weekend sees the inaugural evening of a new social rock space - The Saturday Social Club - an event that will feature consecutive weekend performances from popular, award-winning rock bands, as well as up-and-coming rockers, at the Red Roman Shed at Emperor’s Palace.
The Saturday Social Club will feature prominent rock acts such as Just Jinger, Prime Circle, The Parlotones, CrashCarBurn and Fokofpolisiekar, as well as underground talents like Six Strings, Dirty Moonshine and
The Sweet Resistance.
This Saturday, Prime Circle, Six Strings and Dirty Moonshine take the stage. Dirty Moonshine bassist and back-up vocalist Dave Freeman spoke about the opportunity.
“We’re quite excited, because this is a new venue for us this year, and we are keen to try to reach more audiences and grow our fan base,” he said. “We know that a lot of the fans will be there mostly for Prime Circle, which means that they will have to listen to us,” Freeman joked.
Dirty Moonshine can be described as a blues-rock band
that plays songs that will make you think of nights filled with glasses of bourbon, gorgeous girls and blues music.
It should be very interesting to see them share the stage with the alternative and hard rock sounds provided by Six Strings and Prime Circle. But that’s probably why Dirty Moonshine are performing. Their style of music is completely their own, with inspiration drawn from hard rock or blues rock.
The band has five singles, their latest single, Toxic Waste, and another titled Shake the Roof are due for release soon
“We hope to release our debut album in the winter, around July or August ... before we play in cities like Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Potchefstroom and Durban,” Freeman added.
