Durban - The delighted winners of last week’s Independent on Saturday/1000 Hills Community Tourism Organisation Valentine’s competition are recently-retired couple Peter and Nancy Radue, from uMhlanga, who are excited about their prizes.

“We are so looking forward to it,” said Nancy. “It will be a lovely break. We haven’t had a weekend away for ages. We won a trip on the Rovos Rail once, but it will be our first time on the Umgeni Steam Railway."

Peter added: “When we were younger, we entered lots of competitions and won some great prizes, but we are out of the habit now. Although we always read the Independent on Saturday, this is the first competition we have entered in ages. Perhaps our lucky streak is returning.

“We will stretch the prize out over a few weekends, so we can enjoy every element of it. We will have the Valentine’s picnic at Macnut Farm tomorrow – which will be lovely."

The lucky couple were not available to be photographed.
