If you’re looking for a taste of Italy that goes beyond the usual pizza and pasta, Gusto Italian in Century City is the place to be.
I was lucky enough to be treated to an exclusive media lunch celebrating the launch of their brand-new 2-Course Lunch Menu, and let me tell you—la dolce vita has never tasted so good!
The menu offers a mix of Gusto favourites and fresh new flavours, making for a delightful culinary experience that combines the rich Mediterranean essence of Italy with locally sourced, fresh ingredients.
We kicked things off with a choice of starters, and I couldn’t resist trying the Zuppa Del Giorno (Soup of the Day).
This creamy, rich, and exotic mushroom soup was like a trip to Italy in a bowl—earthy, velvety, and perfectly balanced. It was a comforting hug in soup form!
The Pumpkin and Sage Arancini Balls were a little dry for my taste, but the crispy panko crumbed outside paired with the Romesco mayo gave it a nice crunch. The Italian Salad with arugula, bocconcini, and balsamic glaze was refreshing and light, with just the right amount of zing.
For mains, I went straight for the Controfiletto Di Manzo Alla Grigli—a 200g grilled beef sirloin, served with hand-cut chips, grilled green veggies, and topped with Italian herbed butter. I had it prepared medium, and it was absolutely heavenly!
The balsamic sauce gave it a juicy, caramelized edge, and each bite had that perfect char-grilled flavour that reminded me of a piece of meat fresh off the braai. The meat was so tender it practically melted in your mouth.
We also got to try the Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli, and I was impressed by the homemade pasta and creamy pomodoro sauce. It’s clear the Italians know how to do pasta, and Gusto nails it with their self-made creations.
The restaurant is located in the gorgeous Century City area, where Ratanga Junction used to be, and let me tell you—the views are spectacular.
From the stunning skies to the tranquil lake and the iconic bridge, it’s an atmospheric setting that transports you straight to the heart of Italy.
Add to that the sound of Italian music filling the air and the staff speaking like a big Italian family, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped right into a cozy trattoria in Rome.
Speaking of the staff—what an absolute joy! We were treated like family, and special shoutout to our waiter, Five Star, whose smile could light up any room.
The service was top-notch, and we even got to meet the head chef, Chad Grahame, who brought so much fun energy to the table. The restrooms were clean, and everything about the experience screamed attention to detail.
If you’re after an authentic Italian experience with rich flavours, great atmosphere, and top-tier service, Gusto Italian in Century City is a must-visit. Buon appetito!
