Durban: A vehicle crashed into the fence of a residential property in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving one dead and three injured.

According to Emer-G-Med Paramedics spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, paramedics responded to the scene of a vehicle collision on Rinaldo Road in the Glenhills area.

“Reports from the scene are that a light delivery vehicle careened off the roadway, crashing through a residential boundary fence before coming to a stop,” he said.

Van Reenen said a man believed to be approximately 30 years old was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the arrival of paramedics.

“Three other occupants suffered moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care,” he said.

In a separate incident on Saturday, Midlands EMS reported that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle along the N3 between Merrivale and Midmar.

“Upon arrival it was found that the pedestrian had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene by Midlands EMS crews. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities,” said spokesperson Roland Robertson.

In another accident on Friday, Robertson said a single vehicle rolled, leaving a mother and daughter injured.

He said Midlands EMS Howick crews were dispatched to Petrus Stroom Road just outside of Howick after a vehicle rolled multiple times.

“Upon arrival it was found that two patients were in a serious condition and both required advanced life support treatment. Once treated and stabilised, both patients were transported to a nearby private hospital for further care,” said Robertson.
