Water supply to be disrupted from tonight in parts of Durban due to planned shutdown, says eThekwini

Durban - The eThekwini Municipality has issued a notice of a planned shutdown of the Sea Cow Lake outlet reticulation pipeline that will start on Tuesday night and last until Wednesday morning.

According to eThekwini, the shutdown is to allow for strategic tie-ins into the existing Sea Cow Lake outlet reticulation pipeline.

The municipality says these are necessary as sections of the new 500 mm steel pipeline along the new Bus Rapid Transit route needs to be connected to the existing Sea Cow Lake reticulation outlet.

“The shutdown will commence on Tuesday, 23 August at 6pm to Wednesday and is expected to finish 24 August at 6am,” said the city on its Facebook page.

Water supply to the following areas will be affected:

– Inanda Road - Springfield Park;

– Peters Road - Springfield Park;

– Hippo Road;

– sections of the Parlock Area;

– Barvale Road;

– Carden Road;

– Springfield Park - north of uMgeni River;

– Springfield Park - south of uMgeni River;

– Johanna Road;

– Sea Cow Lake Road;

– parts of North Coast Road;

– Roadhouse Crescent; parts of Riverside Road;

– Dahlia Road;

– Foxglove Place;

– Ribes Place;

– Lotus Road;

– Alpine Road;

– Redfern Road;

– uMgeni Road;

– Carinthia Road;

– Garforth Road.

The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience that will be caused.
