Detroit, Michigan - With less than a week to go before the North American International Auto Show, the 'leak machine' is shifting into high gear, with this official preview picture of Infiniti's Q60 two-door concept.
The low roofline and sharp-edged styling draw on the Q80 Inspiration concept, first seen at the Paris motor show in October 2014, while the aerodynamic gills behind the front wheel-arches are inherited from the Q50 Eau Rouge sports sedan concept, but the Q60 seems to add a sense of urgency that's all its own.
It rolls on special 21" rims with blade-like spokes in a striking combination of matt and gloss black that practically fill the wheel-arches.
PRODUCTION PREVIEW
The concept is almost certainly a preview of the next Q60 production model, which would most likely take a lot of its mechanical parts from the recently launched Q50 – although it will surely also offer some hotter engine options, we would hope.
Size and accommodation-wise, the Q60 concept seems to be aimed straight at BMW’s 4 Series, or a possible future two-door Mercedes-Benz based on the next C-Class platform.
The interior is swathed in hand-stitched, quilted leather and alcantara synthetic suede with carbon-fibre trim elements, while slim-line sports front seats give the rear-seat occupants of this 2+2 at least a modicum of legroom, although their high backrest/head restraints and the small, tick-shaped rear windows would probably make the peanut gallery a claustrophobic place to travel.
