Sorry but we can't surprise you with news that there's some piping hot V8 destined for the trendy new Range Rover Evoque - it is meant to lower Land Rover's carbon foot print after all - but there are reports of a much hotter version of the 2-litre turbo being on the horizon.
In an interview with Autocar, the program director for Evoque, David Mitchell, admitted that he's been cruising around in a prototype 225kW version of the 2-litre turbopetrol Evoque.
The current production 2-litre turbo Evoque makes a rather decent 177kW, but a 225kW version, complete with a higher-boost turbocharger, is under strong consideration, although it has yet to be given the official green light.
The company would, however, need to come up with a badge that befits such a high-performance variant as its only current 'hot' badge used on other Range Rovers is 'supercharged' - not a badge you'd want on a turbo car.
