BMW fans rejoiced when the Bavarian manufacturer pulled the covers off the first-ever M3 Touring. Because what’s not to love about an extremely fast and dynamic wagon?

And now Manhart has decided to make it even more exciting with the release of its own MH3 800 Touring.

The German tuner admits that its new creation is quite visually restrained, but there’s certainly a lot going on beneath the bonnet.

Visual mods, they say are subtle, but it still looks suitably aggressive. Picture: Supplied

The comprehensive conversion results in the S58 twin-turbo straight six engine pushing out 629kW and 1,090Nm which is a significant increase from the stock M3 Competition’s 390kW and 650Nm maximum outputs.

Clearly there’s a lot more than just software optimization going on here.

Comprehensive hardware mods include forged pistons and conrods, an intercooler by Wagner Tuning, carbon intake and a Manhart stainless steel exhaust system with valve control.

Manhart has also given the eight-speed automatic transmission a Stage 2 upgrade to cope with all the extra torque.

Chassis upgrades come in the form of height-adjustable coil springs by H&R as well as a carbon strut brace for greater rigidity, while stopping power is boosted by a factory carbon-ceramic braking system.

Visual mods include an enhanced kidney grille, front spoiler, two-piece apron attachment, side slats, rear skirt attachments and a carbon boot spoiler.

It also comes with champagne-coloured decorative elements to match the unique Raffa alloy wheels - 20-inch front and 21-inch rear.

A Sky Roof and unique floor mats with Manhart lettering mark out the cabin of the Mh3 800 Touring.
