Johannesburg - Emotions ran high outside the Vereeniging court on Monday morning where Flying Squad member Edward Kennedy Fox is appearing for allegedly murdering his wife.

Fox is accused of murdered his wife of four years, Che Rudelle Fox two and a half years ago. They had two children, 9 and 5.

He was arrested while on duty in April this year after two years of investigation. At the time of the murder, Fox allegedly told investigators that his wife was shot dead in their bedroom by an intruder during a home invasion.

During his appearance on Monday morning, Fox requested that the matter be postponed as his advocates was not available. However, state prosecutor  Gerrie Nel objected to this, adamant the matter proceed as Fox had had "enough time" to prepare since his last appearance in May.

It was revealed that Fox was still on duty despite the serious allegation he faces.

Throngs of people clad in ANC regalia and pink T-shirts bearing beaming faces of Rudelle chanted slogans against women abused and called for justice.

In the background, family members stood in hurdles, some weeping.

Rudelle's mother, Genee Kester, told The Star that the family wanted the case to be brought to a close for the family to get "much needed closure".

The cases continues.
