Chené Jonker, a Grade 5 learner from Laerskool Constantiapark in Pretoria East, has emerged victorious at the prestigious 2024 Toddler and Tween of the World competition.
The event, held in Klerksdorp, North West, saw 120 participants from South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia, showcasing young talent across various categories.
At just 10 years old, Jonker secured the highly coveted title of Toddler & Tween of the World High title - a testament to her dedication and skill.
The competition, celebrated for its vibrant Carnival theme, featured multiple categories, including haute couture, top model, and talent, allowing participants to truly shine. Jonker said she started modelling in 2019.
She said her performance at the Toddler and Tween of the World competition was nothing short of stellar.
Besides her supreme title, she was named Gauteng Category Winner and Gauteng Ambassador, and received the Feeding Forward Charity Winner award.
In addition, she placed as runner-up for Best Autism Project of Awareness and earned recognition in the competition’s seasonal collections.
Reflecting on her achievements, Jonker said she is grateful for the support she has experienced so far.
“It is an incredible honour and privilege to hold such a prestigious title. This achievement is a testament to the power of hard work and unwavering dedication.
I am deeply grateful to my coach and parents for their constant support and guidance throughout this journey, and I thank God for His blessings. Success isn’t measured by how many times you fall, but by how you rise and continue giving your absolute best,” she said.
Founded in 2013, the competition has grown into one of South Africa’s leading pageants.
The competition, which now includes entrants from neighbouring countries, aims to provide young girls with a platform to build confidence and hone their talents.
The 2024 event offered more than just competition, participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities designed to foster friendships and enhance self-confidence.
The event culminated in a gala evening with live performances, crowning the winners and bringing the three-day pageant to a spectacular close.
Winners from this year’s competition, including Jonker, now have the opportunity to represent their regions at the Ultimate International Miss competition in the United States next year, presenting them with a platform to compete on a global stage.
