Award-winning South African gospel artist Benjamin Dube has officially announced his departure from the Spirit of Praise collective, embarking on a transformative journey to focus on the next phase of his calling.
Throughout his illustrious career that began in the early 1980s, Dube has released numerous albums that have achieved both gold and platinum status, solidifying his position as a stalwart in the South African gospel scene. His music has not just reached national acclaim; it has also transcended borders, bringing the message of Christ to audiences around the world.
The announcement, issued through a statement by Dube Connection, highlights his intention to expand his personal ministry and take on the role of mentor for the next generation of gospel artists.
In a heartfelt communication, Dube reflected on his years with Spirit of Praise, emphasizing that the decision to leave was far from easy.
“This decision was not made lightly, as Spirit of Praise has been an important part of Rev Dube's ministry journey over the years. Through this platform, countless lives have been touched, worship has been elevated, and the message of Christ has reached multitudes both locally and globally.”
It is explained that the next phase will involve not just the expansion of his individual ministry but also the crucial task of nurturing emerging talent in gospel music.
“However, as seasons change, so do assignments. Rev. Dube believes that the time has come to focus fully on the next phase of his calling, which includes expanding his personal ministry, mentoring the next generation of gospel artists, and pursuing projects aligned with the unique mandate God has placed on his life.”
Dube expressed deep gratitude towards Spirit Music Group, the Spirit of Praise team, and its owners, Aubrey Peacock and Matthew Nkabinde.
“He remains deeply and eternally grateful to Spirit Music Group, the Spirit of Praise team, and the owners of Spirit of Praise, Aubrey Peacock and Matthew Nkabinde, for the years of fruitful partnership, mutual respect, and impactful ministry. Rev. Dube departs with nothing but love, honour, and profound appreciation in his heart. As always, Rev. Dube continues to uphold the Kingdom of God as his highest priority and looks forward to continuing to minister across the globe in ways that bring glory to Jesus Christ.”
