The Springboks will face Argentina at Twickenham in London, in the final round of this year’s Rugby Championship.

SANZAAR and Unión Argentina de Rugby confirmed on Tuesday that Rassie Erasmus’ world champions will lock horns with Felipe Contepomi’s Los Pumas at the iconic venue on Saturday, October 4.

The fixture will be only the second Rugby Championship match to be played outside of the four core territories of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Twickenham has been a happy hunting ground for the Springboks in the past 18 months. They beat England (29-20) and Wales (41-13) in London last year, having beaten New Zealand 35-7 in front of a sold-out crowd in 2023 before the successful defence of their Rugby World Cup crown.

“It’s always exciting to play at Allianz Stadium and we look forward to facing Argentina for the first time in the UK,” Bok head coach Rassie Erasmus said.

“We’ve played two neutral-venue Test matches at the iconic stadium since 2023, against New Zealand and Wales, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially with the passionate crowd filling the stadium and the large contingent of Springbok supporters based in the UK.

“We have no doubt this match is going to be another exciting spectacle given the intense battles between the Springboks and Los Pumas over the last few years, and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Argentina secured victories over South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in last year’s Rugby Championship. Head coach Contepomi is delighted to be facing the world champions again.

“Facing the world champions is always a great challenge and a tough test that we have year after year thanks to The Rugby Championship,” he said.

“Playing against the best teams raises our level and is a great opportunity to keep growing.”
