Pretoria - A solid all-round bowling performance helped the Knights beat the Titans by 35 runs in their Ram Slam T20 Challenge match in Centurion on Friday.
Despite having wickets in hand at the back end of their innings, the Titans were unable to keep up with the rate required chasing 180 to win.
In the end, all the Titans could manage was 144 for five in their innings. Despite Dean Elgar making the highest score of the match with 65, it came from 64 balls as he struggled to find the boundaries his side needed.
Andre Russell from the West Indies was the best bowler for the Knights with 1/20 in his four overs.
For the Knights it was their second win from as many matches, while the Titans went winless from two outings in the competition.
Despite three solid partnerships of around the 50 runs mark at the top of the order, the Knights stumbled in the latter part of their innings to end on 179 for seven in their 20 overs.
Batting first, the Knights were coasting along at 158 for two at the beginning of the 18th over before a triple strike from West Indian Darren Sammy for the Titans.
The allrounder removed set batsmen Gerhardt Abrahams (41) and Russell (48) in the space of two deliveries, before dismissing Pite van Biljon for a first ball duck.
Russell, in particular, had raced to two short of a half-century from just 21 balls with some heavy hitting as he struck eight fours and two sixes.
Surprisingly, Sammy did not bowl his full quota of overs, ending with three for 21 from three overs.
Earlier, Titans debutant Corbin Bosch claimed the scalp of Knights opener Rudi Second for 44.
He got a top edge and was caught at third man, as the batting side lost their first wicket with 59 on the board after six overs. And despite partnerships of 49 and 55 to follow, the visitors were unable to set a total of around 200 they had seemed likely to amass.
