Johannesburg – Languishing in fifth place on the Ram Slam T20 Challenge log following three defeats from as many matches, Titans coach Rob Walter believes his side can turn their campaign around.
"We would obviously like to think we can turn it around, losing three out of three is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination," Walter said ahead of their next match against the Knights in Bloemfontein on Friday.
"We pretty much have it all to do now, it is probably six out of seven at the very least to have a chance."
The Titans are fresh off a crushing 64-run defeat to the Dolphins in Durban on Sunday.
The hosts set the Titans a formidable 194 to chase thanks to the big-hitting exploits of Cameron Delport (45 off 29 balls) and Cody Chetty (44 off 29).
The visitors only managed 130 for nine with tail-ender Corbin Bosch top-scoring with an unbeaten 30.
Walter said chasing a total nearing the 200-mark would always be an uphill battle for the batting line-up.
"When you are chasing 190 those games go either one or two ways, you get close or you lose by a long way because that is T20," the Titans mentor said.
"You need 12 an over for a long period of time, one batsman gets in and gets you close or you get bowled and that is ultimately how the game played out."
The Titans coach said while they were woeful against the Dolphins, there were some good aspects to their game.
"The loss is the blow the team takes, being the third in a row, there are positives among the bad stuff and we will draw on the positive and hopefully get better," he said.
In their first three matches the Titans had bee set imposing totals of 180 and upwards which Walter said made it increasingly difficult chase down successfully.
"It is hard to judge a batting line-up when you are chasing big totals all the time," Walter said.
"The first six overs with the ball is the area that we need to improve the most."
The Titans face an in-form Knights side occupying third place on the log after winning their first two matches and losing their last match against the Lions on boundary count.
The two sides met each other a week ago where the visiting Knights claimed a 35-run victory in Centurion.
"They are playing pretty good cricket at the moment, they had a couple of wins and a tie, they are certainly on more than a role than we are," Walter said.
"I still believe in the players and their potential as a team and that hasn't change.
