Durban – Nolan Hoffman made it three wins in four years after successfully defending his Amashova Durban Classic title on Sunday.
The 29-year-old from Franschhoek in the Western Cape won the popular 106km cycle race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in a time of two hours, 25 minutes and 16 seconds (2:25.16).
The Team Abantu rider edged out Meron Teshome of MTN-Qhubeka and Ryan Gibbons from Team Europecar SA to clinch South Africa’s oldest race of its kind.
Hoffman also won the title last year as well as taking the 2011 title.
The women’s race was won by teenager Kim le Court as the 18-year-old stormed to her maiden title in a time of 2:58.00.
VeloLife SA teammate Lise Olivier, third in 2011, was second, while Juanita Venter of Team Bestmed finished third. – Sapa
