Rome – Slovakia's Peter Sagan won the sixth stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico over 209km around Porto Sant'Elpidio on Monday as Italy's Vincenzo Nibali took the overall lead.
In wet conditions, Sagan of the Cannondale team sprinted away in the final 300 metres to beat Nibali, with Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez in third.
Despite finishing second on the day, Nibali, of Astana, seizes the overall leader's blue jersey from Britain's Chris Froome, who had a disappointing day and drops to second in the general classification, 34 seconds back. – Sapa-AFP
