New Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi said Sunday’s drubbing at the hands of Tanzanian champions Young Africans was a learning curve for his side.
Sunday’s Toyota Cup clash was the Tunisian tactician’s first game on South African soil, and was hoping for a positive result as the team prepare for the upcoming Betway Premiership season.
However, Chiefs were in sixes and sevens throughout the game, and after 90 minutes, were on the wrong end of a 4-0 hiding.
It was brutal, and left many of the club’s fans fearful of the possible horrors that lay ahead for the once mighty Glamour Boys.
But, speaking to journalists after the game, Nabi said that while he was disappointed to lose, he wasn’t thinking about pushing the panic button.
“... it’s only a friendly game, we didn’t lose any points, so we’re taking it as a learning curve, to get to know the team, especially it’s weaknesses and strengths. It was a good opportunity to evaluate the players, the dynamics of the team,” said the Tunisian.
“We would also like to congratulate the team of Young Africans for their excellent performance today. They allowed us to have an accurate picture of our team. We will learn from that and I’m sure improve.”
