Despite two Betway Premiership defeats in a row, Kaizer Chiefs are still on the right track according to coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Chiefs lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend, and though the teams are now separated by 29 points on the log there is cause for optimism insisted the tactician.
The only goal of the game came just before the break as Lucas Ribeiro netted for the hosts in Pretoria.
Chiefs though had the same number of shots (nine) at goal like Sundowns, and the Soweto giants only had slightly less ball with 44% possession.
Rebuilding phase
“Our team is in the process of building itself, and I believe that the prestige of our name, the players feel it,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.
“That’s why when you look at the league standings, there is a huge gap, but when you look on the field today, you couldn’t tell the difference. That’s why I believe that we are on the right track in making the team better and will have better outcomes in the future.”
Nabi has now been in charge of Chiefs for 22 matches, with the team now placed eighth in the league table.
The job of leading Chiefs was also not about the money said Nabi.
“People talk too much in the media. My salary, I don’t talk [about it] I promise you. Every three days I have a proposition in big clubs. Three times than [the] salary I receive here.
“I have a mission here with Kaizer Chiefs and I have big respect for the mission. I’m not here for the money, and I love this club and I’m strong, and I don’t lose my confidence quickly because I’m strong.”
