The feud between Mel Viljoen and Beverly Steyn was like a simmering pot of beef stew that refused to cool down.
The two Barbies were at each other’s throats and it was less “fabulous life” and more “catfight in couture”.
Liz Prins was visibly upset at the table, probably wondering how she got herself into this circus of backstabbing and shade-throwing.
Speaking of backstabbing, enter Kay, the queen of stirring the pot. She had gone from bestie to backstabber in record time, questioning the sincerity of Viljoen’s apologies.
Calling Viljoen fake? That was like a dagger through the Chanel-clad heart.
LaC (because every Housewife needs an acronym) spilt all the piping hot tea to London, who couldn’t help but join the cackling fest.
Fast forward to day 8 on the island, and Kay came back with a mysterious smile that said she had had some interesting adventures the night before. Meeting the parents and all? Well, that explained the glow, darling.
LaC and London kept things toned and tight with a beachside workout – because even amid the chaos, one must maintain those Housewife-worthy curves.
Now, onto the real talk. “Carte Blanche” made a cameo in the conversation, again. With Lethabo lejoy Mathato dropping truth bombs about what Viljoen said about “African women” and their ways.
Mathato threw out accusations of racism coming from Viljoen’s side but LaC and London weren’t on the same page.
Viljoen wasn’t feeling herself (thanks to the night before, we heard) and needed her hero and husband Peet Viljoen to vent – cue the dramatic lesson phone calls.
And let’s not forget the religious drama. Peet told Viljoen that quoting the Bible (like Steyn did) was a manipulation tool? Who knew being a child of the Lord could be so scandalous?
Steyn got real with Nonku Williams and Prins about her personal battles and, suddenly, lunch became a battlefield of friendships questioned and alliances tested. Prins spilt the tea to Viljoen about betrayal, but Kay was quick to deny any wrongdoing – classic Housewives’ manoeuvring at its finest.
The ladies weren’t just stirring the pot; they were trying to pit Kay and Viljoen against each other. Jealousy, thy name was Housewives.
As we know Viljoen to be, she dropped a bombshell that could sink a thousand yachts. She brought up Steyn’s comments about Prins and her dating preferences, raising issues of race and skin colour that clearly cut deep.
Viljoen said Steyn made comments such as “white girls wouldn’t do that” which, in this case, refers to ”running after black men“.
Prins was vividly shocked and upset and seemed to believe Viljoen from the start, a twist that could redefine alliances and rivalries.
Steyn felt like Viljoen was stirring the pot but as the episode wrapped, Viljoen declared, with Housewife flair: “Justice has been served.”
Oh, the drama! Oh, the intrigue! Would this island paradise ever be the same? We’ll have to wait and see.
