Durban teenager knocked down while walking to school

Durban - Durban police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after a 13-year-old was knocked down while walking to school on Monday morning.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, it is alleged that just after 7am the victim was hit by a vehicle while crossing at the robot on the corner of Sarnia and Sea View Roads.

“The victim was taken to hospital for medical attention.”

Garrith Jamieson, an advanced life support paramedic, described the victim’s condition as serious.

“KZN VIP Medical Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a schoolgirl believed to be 13 years old was involved in an alleged hit and run accident. The teenager was assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that she required.”
