Six days after an Eastern Cape girl was allegedly kidnapped, a video of a child believed to be Emaan Fatima pleading for help has been circulating on social media.
The nine-year-old, a Pakistani national, was allegedly abducted near her school in Buffalo Flats, in East London, on February 4.
According to reports, it is alleged Emaan was near her school when a silver-grey Toyota Corolla with no number plates, approached. Two unknown men allegedly grabbed her and drove off.
In the video, the girl believed to be Emaan, who is still dressed in her school uniform and with her arms behind her back, can be heard saying: “Please… please… I don't want to stay here anymore. Please give them what they want...”
Lieutenant-Colonel Avele Fumba, spokesperson for the Hawks in Eastern Cape, said: “I can confirm that a case of kidnapping is being investigated. At present, our priority is to ensure the safety of the victim."
