Tourism Month, which is in September was officially launched last week at Mpumalanga.
This year’s Tourism Month seeks to encourage South Africans to explore their country and promote local tourism. Here are some of the things to do during travel month.
Group travels
People are encouraged to do local travelling, especially in big groups. It’s much cheaper and keeps the economy within the country.

Be adventurous
It’s always great to get out of your comfort zone. Do something you’ve never done before, face those fears and do that bungee jumping, hiking, whatever that might increase your adrenalin rush.

Seek opportunities and use them
There are many many opportunities in the tourism industry for local businesses. I mean think of it like this: You might be an entrepreneur, making soaps and other beauty products. How many B&B’s and hotels does South Africa have? Who supplies soaps there? These are some of the important things that were mentioned at the launch, of which South Africans need to take note of.
*Tourism Month starts on September 1- September 30.
