According to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017, which placed Japan at number 4 (out of 141 countries), Japan is the top tourism destination in all of Asia. Health and hygiene, safety and security and business travel were amoung its best rated categories.

The country's highlight tourist attractions include sites such as Golden Pavilion, Horoshima Peace Memorial, Jigokudani Monkey Park, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Tower and Todaiji Temple.

Japan also benefits from its rich culture, and the blend of its immensely nuanced history and rapid development.

Its hotels have also developed into some of the best and most sophisticated in the world. Here's a few of the best:

Oakwood Premier, Tokyo

Located close to Tokyo station, this slick, newly opened hotel is one of Japan's best hotels. It also has some fine modern facilities including a state of the art fitness centre, meeting rooms and amazing restaurants within the property, and nearby. The rooms are large, the service is rated highly on a number of reviewing sites and it is as conveniently located as it gets.

Richmond Hotel Premier Tokyo Oshiage

Some of this hotel's most popular features are: its large rooms, amazing service, and super fast Wifi. Despite being a fair distance away from Tokyo central, Richmond hotel is otherwise conveniently located, with a supermarket directly next to it just in case you forgot something at home. And if you aren't too interested in going out, you can kickback in your room and enjoy the room's flat-screen TV, which are all connected to Video on demand (VOD).

HOSHINOYA Fuji

This is one gorgeous hotel. The magnificent Lake Kawaguchi is in full view from this serenely located hotel, which is located within a red pine forest. Horseback riding, hiking and stargazing are some of the unique activities you can get up to here. A bike can be rented for free here for those keen to explore the amazing scenic locations that surround the hotel.
