Rome - Half of restaurants in Rome have failed hygiene inspections and dozens are at risk of closure.

Around 300 owners were reported to the health authorities and at least 33 inspections led to criminal investigations.
A total of 521 fines were issued with a value of £585 000.
Around 2 750 litres of oil was confiscated along with 2 300kg of meat and 1 430kg of fish.
