Holidaymakers are arriving at hotels where building work is going on without being forewarned by their tour operators.
Tui, the owner of Thomson Holidays and First Choice, has been fined three times in the past two years (totalling £11,000) for failing to tell its customers about this before they travelled.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) requires firms to ‘notify the clients of the situation without undue delay’.
A Thomson and First Choice spokeswoman says: ‘We are sorry to hear if a holiday falls short of expectations or is impacted by circumstances that are sometimes beyond our control.’
