Durban
Paradise Valley Nature Reserve

Spanning over 100 hectares of coastal and remnant grassland, Paradise Valley boasts one of the two national monuments to be found in Pinetown – The Umbilo Waterworks, which was built in 1887. The assortment of facilities are great for everyone. People can go on a hike with all four of the trails in the reserve heading to the picnic area. Braai facilities are available. The waterfall is another must visit. Its views will leave you wanting more.

Known as the oldest garden in Cape Town, Company Gardens has beautiful spots for one to have a picnic. It also has a rose garden, Japanese garden, fish pond and aviary. The garden also has fantastic views of Table Mountain and close to many must visit places like the South African Museum, the Planetarium and the South African Art Gallery. Visit here if you enjoy viewing history right before your eyes in one of Cape Town’s most iconic settings.
Limpopo
Polokwane Bird Sanctuary

Polokwane Bird Sanctuary is a 43 hectares of land just north of the city. The sanctuary boasts 320 species. There are also scenic spots including three dams. If you planning on a picnic, what better place than among some of the most beautiful birds in the country. Other facilities include a good network of paths, birding view hides, walking trails and braai lapas.
