Why winter is the sexiest season

Skiing, snowboarding and generally having fun in the snow are obviously a lot of fun in the European winter.

Cape Town - When confronted with the possibility of travelling in Europe most young travellers have images of summer: sunny Spanish streets, densely packed Dutch flower fields, diving into the turquoise waters off the Amalfi Coast or sailing around the Greek islands.

What's not top of mind are the endless possibilities that await in winter.

To launch their 2016-17 Europe Winter season, Contiki has turned to Sexy Winter Man (SWM) to show millennials what travelling in the winter season is all about.

SWM turns your preconceptions of travelling through Europe in winter on its head. It's not only about snow, freezing temperatures and predominantly skiing and snowboarding trips. The reality is far more diverse. From city breaks, outdoor adventures and winter sun holidays readily available in addition to a traditional snowy adventure.

Sexy Winter Man is a man who hibernates not during winter, but in preparation for winter - and he's here to highlight some of the great ways to travel Europe in winter including;

1. City Breaks

European cities are beautiful year round, some of them even more so after the mercury has dipped and the crowds of tourists have thinned. Sexy Winter Man explains why discovering the cities of Europe can be just as good, if not better, in winter.

2. Winter Sun

Europe is a big place; just because it's cold further north doesn't mean the entire continent is void of sun for winter. Sexy Winter Man knows where to find eight hours of sunshine in the middle of winter.

3. Skiing/Snowboarding

Skiing, snowboarding and generally having fun in the snow are obviously a lot of fun in the European winter, and something that Contiki specialises in. Sexy Winter Man is in his element when in the snow, skiing, snowboarding, sauna-ing and hot cocoa-ing come all too naturally to him.
