A four-day kidnapping ordeal came to an end for a Hanover Park man who managed to escape his captors.

Huzaifa Sange was abducted on Friday after four armed men stormed his Hanover Park home, where his family run a takeaway business, and ransacked it before making off with the family car and the 21-year-old.

Sange, who is from India, has been living in Cape Town for the past seven years with his brother, Usaina, and sister-in-law, Munazia, and helps run the Huzaifa Take Away.

According Sange’s sister-in-law, Munazia Sange, 27, who was present during the incident, the armed men stormed into their house just after 8pm and demanded money.

Munazia told Weekend Argus that the men posed as customers wanting to buy food before ransacking the house and stealing valuables.

On Tuesday police confirmed that Sange had been reunited with his family.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said Sange was returned home on Monday, adding that the police’s investigation of the kidnapping and house robbery case was still ongoing.

“He is unharmed. The police investigation continues,” he said.

It is still unclear how Sange was found, but according to a police source he managed to escape from his kidnappers and make his way to the nearest police station, from where he was escorted home.

Sange’s family told the Weekend Argus that they were still trying to work through the ordeal and requested privacy.

Kidnappings for ransom have increased in the Western Cape, and Friday’s incident was the second kidnapping to take place in 10 days.
