It was a thrilling day at DHL Stadium on February 8, as the highly anticipated 2025 MTBS Flashes and inter-school athletics competition unfolded.
The MTBS (Malan, Tygerberg, Bellville, Stellenberg) Flashes event, sponsored by STADIO, is the largest of its kind in South Africa, bringing together four powerhouse schools: D.F. Malan High School, Tygerberg High School, Bellville High School, and Stellenberg High School.
The day was divided into two electrifying parts: the spectacular Flashes (a high-energy war-cry competition) and the athletics showdown, where athletes go head-to-head in a fierce display of speed and skill.
The Flashes event itself is a spectacle of creative energies aligning to form a unison display, much like students creating a "human LCD screen" on the stadium's pavilion.
Through perfectly timed openings and closings of their school blazers, each learner acts as a "pixel" in a mesmerizing display of images and animations. A mix of war-cries and school anthems complete the picture.
Chris Vorster, CEO of STADIO, couldn’t have been more thrilled.
"MTBS Flashes is a highlight of the school calendar, and it's no wonder – the energy in the stadium is always off the charts. The creativity, the precision, the sheer spirit – it’s truly an experience.
