Over 1 000 spaza shops registered in the Western Cape so far

The spaza shop industry is said to be worth R178 billion and accounts to at least 30 to 40 % of South Africa’s annual food expenditure and out of the estimated 100 000 shops in the country, early reports suggest about 40 % have been registered.
