Skin problems are an ongoing issue with individuals. While some have acne-prone skin, others suffer from uneven skin tone.
Skincare content creator Abby Rose Maureen, who has experienced both worlds, shares some of the top three causes of uneven skin tone.
“Let’s be honest, when it comes to having smooth, even-toned skin, we tend to focus on our faces only. But let me tell you, taking care of the skin on your body is just as important and it doesn’t need to be a hassle,” she said.
Below are her observations of what may cause uneven skin tone.
Not taking care of the skin below your neck
Having an extensive routine for your face doesn’t mean neglecting the rest of your body. Of course, the face is the first thing people notice, which is why it gets more attention, but skincare should be for your whole body and not just certain parts.
“Just like you use a facial cleanser, exfoliator, moisturiser and sunscreen on your face, you should use skin care products on your arms, chest, legs and feet,” said Maureen.
Not exfoliating regularly (but don’t overdo it)
Exfoliating the body is just as important. Exfoliating helps reduce pigmentation and get rid of dead skin cells that contribute to dullness, discolouration and clogged pores.
“Exfoliating can help your skin feel baby-smooth. But be careful.”
Dehydration
Hydrating means moisturising and drinking water for optimum results.
“Hydration plumps up your skin’s ‘thirst’ cells, which make your complexion look smoother and more radiant. Well-hydrated skin also tends to have a more even tone,” Maureen explained.
Remember, consistency is key.
